When any weapon in the game removes a player with a single head hit, the entire duel is decided by who resolves the first accurate shot. There is no trade window to fall back on and no respawn to recover with.

Destruction multiplies that problem. A round that started with four sightlines can end with twenty after a Thermite charge, a hammer, and a few sprays through drywall. Holding an angle on high ping means committing to a position while every one of those new openings favours whoever pushes through it. This is why Siege players default to pre-firing and jiggle-peeking rather than static holds — and why the same habits stop working when your latency gives the attacker an extra frame of information for free.

Data center selection and the matchmaking ping limit

Siege gives you two levers most shooters do not offer together. You can pick the data center your matches are hosted in rather than accepting whatever matchmaking chooses, and you can set a ping limit so the matchmaker refuses servers above your threshold.
