Terms of Use

Using this site
CheckPing is a free, browser-based network latency tool and a library of guides about latency. There is no account to create and nothing to buy. By using the site you accept the terms on this page.
You are welcome to use the test as often as you like for your own diagnostics. Please do not attempt to overload the service with automated request volume, scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people, or use it as a component of another product without asking first.
What the measurements actually are
This is the most important thing on the page. CheckPing measures the warm HTTPS round-trip time from your browser to cloud endpoints — including, on the game pages, the cloud region physically closest to that game's server infrastructure. It is a reliable proxy for the latency you experience, and it is dependable for comparing regions and for before-and-after testing, because the method is constant across runs.
It is not an ICMP ping, and it is not a direct ping to any game server. A web page cannot send ICMP echo requests or a game's UDP traffic; no browser-based tool can. Absolute values typically read a few milliseconds higher than a command-line ping or an in-game counter.
Results also vary with your network conditions, time of day, browser overhead, and endpoint load. Treat them as well-founded estimates for making decisions, not as certified measurements. Do not rely on this tool as the sole basis for a contractual dispute, an SLA claim, or any decision with financial or legal consequences.
Guides and advice
The articles on this site are written to be accurate and are corrected when we find they are not. They are general information, not professional network-engineering advice for your specific environment. Changes you make to your router, operating system, or network are made at your own risk; read your hardware documentation and keep a way to undo them.
Trademarks and affiliation
CheckPing is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with any of the game publishers, developers, internet service providers, hardware manufacturers, or platforms mentioned on this site.
All game names, titles, logos, and related marks are the trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. They are used here nominatively — solely to identify which game a given page or guide is about — and no claim of ownership is made. If you own a mark used on this site and would like a specific use changed or removed, contact us and we will act promptly.
Our own content
The written guides, page copy, and design of CheckPing are our own work. Quoting a short passage with a link back is fine and welcome. Republishing whole articles is not.
Advertising and external links
This site is supported by advertising, described in our Privacy Policy. Ads are served by Google and we do not choose or review them individually. We also link to external sites in our guides; we do not control their content and are not responsible for it.
No warranty and limitation of liability
CheckPing is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on its measurements or guides. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Changes
These terms may be updated. Material changes will move the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
