Ping Test to India (Mumbai)
When a game advertises an India server, it means Mumbai. The city is where India's international subsea cables come ashore and where practically every cloud region, CDN node and game data centre serving the subcontinent is built. This test measures the round-trip time from your browser to that Mumbai region, which is the number that decides whether Valorant, BGMI or Dota 2 will feel responsive for you.

One city, a billion players, and a lot of backhaul
India's internet is unusually centralised. Cables land at Mumbai and Chennai, and the bulk of hosting sits in Mumbai, so a player in Delhi, Kolkata or Bengaluru is not playing on a nearby server — their packets travel across the country first. That domestic leg alone can add twenty to forty milliseconds before any game logic runs, which is why in-game ping in India varies so much more by city than it does in, say, Germany.
It also means the usual advice to "pick the closest server" is less useful here. There is only one realistic choice, and the thing you can actually change is the quality of the path to it: the access technology, the ISP, and whether your traffic is being routed sensibly. This test gives you a repeatable number to test those changes against.
Fibre versus 4G/5G, and why it dominates your result
A large share of Indian players connect over mobile broadband, and the radio access layer is the single biggest contributor to latency on those connections. Even an excellent 5G link adds jitter that a fibre line does not, and a congested cell at 9 p.m. can double your ping without your download speed changing at all. If your figure below swings wildly between runs, you are almost certainly looking at radio congestion rather than a routing problem.
On JioFiber, Airtel Xstream or ACT fibre, Mumbai should be comfortably inside the domestic range in the table. If it is not, run the test again on a wired connection before blaming the ISP — Wi-Fi contention in a dense apartment block is responsible for a surprising number of "high ping" reports.
How this measurement works
A browser cannot send the ICMP packets the ping command uses, or the UDP packets games use. Instead we open a connection to a real endpoint inside the Mumbai data-centre region, warm it up so the TCP and TLS handshakes are not counted, then keep the best of several samples. The result is a genuine network round trip to Mumbai — usually a little higher than a raw ICMP ping, and a close, consistent proxy for the latency a game server in the same city would give you.

Will this match my BGMI or Valorant ping?
It tracks it closely. Riot runs a Mumbai data centre for Valorant and BGMI's India servers sit in the same metro, so the physical path is the same one we measure. Games usually report a slightly lower figure because they use lighter UDP packets while we measure HTTPS round-trip time, but the difference is consistent and small.
Why is my ping to Mumbai high even though my speed test is fast?
Speed and latency are different measurements. A 300 Mbps connection with poor peering or a congested mobile cell can easily show worse ping than a 50 Mbps fibre line with a clean route. Bandwidth tells you how much data fits through the pipe; ping tells you how long the pipe is and how busy it is right now.
Is Singapore ever faster than Mumbai for Indian players?
Occasionally, and it is worth checking. A few Indian ISPs route international traffic through Singapore anyway, in which case an SEA server can land within a few milliseconds of the India one. Run the test and compare the two rows before assuming the India server is automatically the right pick.
